Goa targets major cargo and cruise hub status by March 2025 with new terminal and jetties.

The Goa government, with central support, aims to transform Goa into a major cargo and cruise destination by March 2025. The Sagarmala Scheme includes developing an international cruise and ferry terminal at Mormugao Port, costing Rs. 101.72 crores, and preparing reports for nine coastal jetties to boost cargo volumes and improve inland transport. The project is expected to create jobs and stimulate local economies through enhanced tourism and cargo handling capabilities.
