Former OPSO employee arrested for stealing over $90,000 from inmate trust fund.
A former Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office (OPSO) employee, Labrina Carey Lackey, was arrested for allegedly stealing over $90,000 from the inmate trust fund. Lackey, 57, is charged with multiple felonies including theft, filing false records, and fraud. The theft was uncovered by the OPSO's new chief financial officer, and the agency is using insurance to reimburse affected inmates. Additionally, another former OPSO employee, Kenneth Lawson, has been arrested for fraudulently siphoning over $75,000 in federal funds.
