Dublin woman jailed for six months for neglecting dog with untreated grapefruit-sized tumor.

Martina Kelly, a Dublin woman, was sentenced to six months in jail, with two months suspended, for neglecting her Jack Russell dog, Lucky, who suffered from an untreated tumor the size of a grapefruit. The tumor ruptured, causing severe pain and near-fatal conditions for the dog. Kelly pleaded guilty to charges under the Animal Health and Welfare Act, and the court heard that she claimed she could not get a vet appointment over a bank holiday weekend. The Department of Agriculture prosecuted her for causing unnecessary suffering and failing to safeguard Lucky's welfare.
