A 32-year-old Salvadoran citizen and alleged MS-13 gang member was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents at the US-Mexico border after entering the country illegally with a group. Initially claiming to be a Mexican citizen, he was taken into custody pending removal. The San Diego Sector Border Patrol saw a 62.5% increase in gang member arrests in the 2024 fiscal year compared to the previous year.
