UK sets 2029 deadline to remove hazardous cladding from tall buildings, warns of penalties for non-compliance.

The UK government has set a 2029 deadline to remove hazardous cladding from buildings over 18 meters high, aiming to complete remediation on all structures over 11 meters with unsafe cladding by then. Building safety minister Alex Norris warns landlords of severe penalties, including fines and prison sentences, if they fail to comply. Despite this, critics argue the plan adds complexity and bureaucracy to an already slow process, with around 4,000 to 7,000 buildings still unidentified.
