Sifan Hassan and Letsile Tebogo named World Athletes of the Year at the World Athletics Awards.

Sifan Hassan, a Dutch marathon runner of Ethiopian descent, and Letsile Tebogo, a Botswanan sprinter, were named World Athletes of the Year at the World Athletics Awards in Monaco. Hassan, who won gold in the marathon and two bronze medals in track events at the Paris Olympics, also won the 'out of stadium' award. Tebogo secured Botswana's first Olympic medal with his 200m victory and a silver in the 4x400m relay. Other awards included Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone for women's track and Tamirat Tola for men's out of stadium.
