Runner survives cardiac arrest during race, defying odds with quick medical response.

During an 8k race, 68-year-old runner Michael Bohonos collapsed and went into cardiac arrest due to a blocked artery. Thanks to the rapid response of volunteer medics, paramedics, firefighters, and doctors who used CPR and an AED, Bohonos was revived and made a full recovery with no brain damage. His survival is rare, as only one in ten Canadians who suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survive each year.
