Rare book collection from Bismarck attorney sells for $5.6M, with "Frankenstein" fetching $843K.

A collection of 15,000 rare books and manuscripts from Bismarck attorney William A. Strutz sold for $5.6 million in two Heritage Auctions. Highlights included a $425,000 copy of "The Great Gatsby," a $300,000 "The Hobbit," and a $275,000 "Walden." The most valuable item was a first edition of "Frankenstein" for $843,750. The auction in June was followed by a November-to-December event featuring more of Strutz's favorite authors and inscribed books from historical figures.
