Philippine sugar producers urge government intervention to halt price drops and aid farmers.

The United Sugar Producers Federation in the Philippines is calling on the government to intervene in the sugar market to stop declining prices, which have fallen by P100 per 50-kilogram bag. The group suspects traders are manipulating prices for profit. Unifed President Manuel Lamata proposes direct government purchases to bypass traders and stabilize prices, especially to aid small farmers who dominate the industry.
