In October 2024, New Zealand saw a 5.2% decrease in new home building consents compared to September, with 2,850 consents issued. This marks a 16% drop from October 2023. Multi-unit home consents fell 18% to 1,487, while stand-alone houses increased 8.6% to 1,363. Non-residential building consents also declined, with a 3.5% drop in value to $9.3 billion. Despite these declines, offices and public transport buildings saw a 26% increase in value.
