In 2024, Ireland set a record by making over 30,000 citizenship decisions, up from 20,000 in 2023. At seven ceremonies, over 6,000 new citizens from 140 countries will receive their citizenship. The Citizenship Division now offers online applications, payments, and electronic vetting to expedite the process, aiming for a 12-month decision timeframe for residency-based applications. Since 2011, over 191,000 people have been granted Irish citizenship.
