Ghana's mobile money transactions surged in October, despite a drop in active agents and ongoing economic debates.

Mobile money transactions in Ghana saw a significant boost from September to October 2024, with the total number rising from 705 million to 728 million transactions. Despite this growth, the number of active agents dropped from 456,000 to 404,000. The transaction value for mobile money interoperability increased from GHS 2.5 billion to GHS 2.8 billion, and the value of cheque transactions processed through mobile money grew from GHS 32.8 billion to GHS 38 billion. This surge comes amid ongoing economic and regulatory challenges, including debates over the E-levy rate.
