Fanshawe College gets $20M to create VR training for first responders, opening in 2026.

Fanshawe College in Ontario, Canada, has received a $20 million grant from the province's Workplace Safety and Insurance Board to develop virtual reality training tools for first responders. The grant marks the college's largest research funding and will be used to create immersive technologies, including cognitive behavioral and exposure therapy, in a 9,000 square feet center set to open in 2026. The project aims to prepare future emergency workers for high-stress scenarios they may face.
