California lawmaker proposes bill for slavery descendants' priority admission to state universities.

California Assemblymember Isaac Bryan plans to introduce a bill that would give admission priority to descendants of slaves at public universities. The bill aims to address past discrimination and is aligned with the state's Black reparations task force recommendations. It comes in response to conservative efforts to dismantle diversity programs. Black students currently make up around 4-4.7% of the student population at California's public universities.
