Punjab court sentences Delhi MLA Naresh Yadav to 2 years for role in 2016 Quran desecration case.

A Punjab court sentenced Delhi's AAP MLA Naresh Yadav to two years in prison and fined him Rs 11,000 for his role in a 2016 case involving the desecration of the Quran. Yadav was convicted under sections of the Indian Penal Code for malicious acts, promoting religious enmity, and criminal conspiracy. The case led to violence and the burning of vehicles after torn pages of the Quran were found in Malerkotla. Two others were also sentenced, while another was acquitted.
