Orange County crew sparked a 23,526-acre fire, causing massive damage and evacuations.

An Orange County Public Works crew accidentally started the 23,526-acre Airport fire while moving boulders, failing to follow "best practices" and not having a water truck on site. The fire burned for 26 days, destroying 160 structures, injuring 22 people, and forcing thousands to evacuate. The department's head has since left his position, and an internal investigation is ongoing.
