Retail leasing in India's major cities surged nearly 5% in 2024, reaching 5.53 million sq ft.

Cushman & Wakefield reported a nearly 5% increase in retail space leasing in shopping malls and high streets across India's top eight cities from January to September 2024, reaching 5.53 million square feet compared to 5.29 million square feet in the same period last year. The growth is driven by increased discretionary spending and changing consumer preferences, though leasing in malls slightly declined. Hyderabad saw the strongest demand in high-street retail space.
