Metro Vancouver seeks federal definition of "flushable" after costly sewer damage from wipes.

Metro Vancouver is asking the federal government to define what "flushable" means after sanitary wipes labeled as such caused millions in sewer damage. Introduced 25 years ago, these wipes clog pumps, costing Canadian cities about $250 million annually. A study found that most products labeled "flushable" do not disintegrate properly, due to conflicting industry and utility standards.
