Metro Vancouver adopts bio-diesel for trucks, cutting emissions by 65% over five years.

Metro Vancouver approved a plan to switch its heavy-duty truck fleet to bio-diesel made from animal fats and used cooking oil, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by over 11,000 tonnes, or 65%, over five years. The bio-diesel will be used to transport waste from wastewater treatment plants to farms and construction sites in British Columbia and Alberta. The transition will add a $1.76 million premium to a $75.6 million contract.
