China renovates 53,000 old urban communities, benefiting over 110 million residents by 2024.

China has renovated around 53,000 old urban residential communities in the first 10 months of 2024, aiming to complete 54,000 by year-end. Eight regions, including Jiangsu and Shanghai, have finished their planned renovations. Since 2019, 258,800 communities have been renovated, benefiting 44.34 million households and 110 million residents. By 2023, urban areas saw a per capita housing floor area exceeding 40 square meters.
