Wealthy Australian farmer and company fined over $2M for illegally clearing critical habitat.

Wealthy Australian farmer Ronald Lewis Greentree and his company Auen Grain were fined over $2 million for illegally clearing 1,262 hectares of native woodland on their Boolcarrol property in NSW between 2016 and 2019. The cleared area included critical habitat for 30 threatened species. Greentree was fined $1,015,200, while Auen Grain was fined $1,072,800, marking the largest individual land-clearing fine in NSW history.
