UK plans to standardize waste collection with up to four bins per household to simplify recycling.

The UK government plans to standardize waste collection by requiring households to have up to four bins for sorting waste, aiming to simplify recycling and reduce the inconsistency in waste management across the country. The bins will be designated for general waste, food and garden waste, paper and cardboard, and other recyclables. This reform, to be rolled out over the next few years, also mandates weekly food waste collections starting in 2026, aiming to end the "postcode lottery" of recycling services.
