Researchers at the University of Missouri School of Medicine are part of a national consortium funded by the National Cancer Institute to develop methods for training the immune system to recognize and respond to cancer early on, potentially preventing the need for treatments like chemotherapy. The team received nearly $3.8 million for their five-year research project. Other leading institutions involved include Emory University and Harvard Medical School.
