Two wheels from the truck's axle came off just before 11 am, with one crossing into the westbound lane and striking the SUV. The 60-year-old male dump truck driver was uninjured. He was charged with making a false pre-trip statement and driving a non-compliant vehicle, facing a $700 fine. The truck company must also conduct a full inspection and repair at their expense. Police emphasized the incident was preventable with proper pre-trip inspections.
