CSA introduces biennial prospectus filings for investment funds, reducing regulatory burden while ensuring key investor updates.

The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) have announced new rules effective March 3, 2024, allowing investment funds in continuous distribution to file prospectuses every two years instead of annually, reducing regulatory burden. This modernization initiative still ensures investors receive essential information through annual updates of continuous disclosure documents, Fund Facts, and ETF Facts. The requirement for final prospectus filing within 90 days of a preliminary receipt has also been removed.
