Air Canada is the first Canadian airline to use facial recognition technology at boarding gates, starting at Vancouver International Airport. Passengers can upload a photo and passport scan to the airline’s app to board flights without showing physical IDs. While the technology raises privacy concerns, Air Canada assures that personal data is encrypted and deleted 36 hours post-flight. The airline plans to expand this feature to other Canadian airports.
