The UK unveils a super-sensitive PET scanner, enhancing cancer and heart disease diagnostics.

The UK has introduced a new total-body PET scanner, one of three becoming operational, which is 40 times more sensitive and 10 times faster than existing models. This technology will enhance the diagnosis of serious illnesses such as cancer and heart disease by producing higher quality images faster. Funded by the government and part of the National PET Imaging Platform, the scanners aim to improve patient care and accelerate research by creating a comprehensive data bank of medical findings.
