Matthew Garrett Speck sentenced to life in prison for murdering his wife and dog in South Carolina.

Matthew Garrett Speck, 37, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for murdering his wife, Caitlin Conrad Speck, and their dog, Bailey Mae, in Hanahan, South Carolina. Speck staged a break-in, shot his sleeping wife, killed the dog, and then shot himself to mislead authorities. After a thorough investigation, he was also convicted of ill-treatment of animals and weapon possession during a violent crime. The judge sentenced him to life for murder and five years each for the other charges, to be served concurrently.
