India's stock exchanges must back each other up in case of outages, starting April 2025.
India's market regulator, SEBI, has mandated that the BSE and NSE act as alternative trading venues for each other in case of an outage, starting April 1, 2025. Exchanges must prepare a joint standard operating procedure and have necessary infrastructure ready. This ensures trading continuity and minimizes price risks for investors during outages. Exchanges will also create reserve contracts for exclusive listings and allow hedging on another exchange for common products.
