Indian Railways reported a revenue of Rs 12,159 crore from ticket sales during the festive period from September 1 to October 31, with 143.71 crore passengers using the service. To manage the surge, especially around festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Dussehra, and Diwali, the railways added 7,663 special trains, a 73% increase from the previous year. The central zone saw the most passengers at 31.63 crore.
