Indian Army plans to open historic battlefields for tourism to boost visitor numbers in J&K.

Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi announced plans to allow tourists to visit historic battlefields like Siachen Glacier, Kargil, and Galwan Valley. The initiative aims to transform Jammu and Kashmir from a focus on terrorism to tourism, with the Army identifying 48 areas for promotion. The Army also plans to train locals in mountaineering and aims to double tourist numbers in the region over the next five years.
