On the last sitting day of 2024, Australian parliament saw Greens leader Adam Bandt broker a deal with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, securing $500 million for social housing energy efficiency in exchange for support on Labor's manufacturing initiative. The Greens will also assist in passing other key laws. Despite political tensions, both leaders shared Christmas wishes and thanked first responders and veterans. The day also marked the retirement of long-time Parliament House cafe owner Tony Calabria, celebrated by politicians.
