The Calgary Health Foundation funds $3.52 million for a new minimally invasive heart valve program using MitraClip technology.

The Calgary Health Foundation has committed $3.52 million to launch a minimally invasive heart valve program at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, offering a procedure called transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) surgery. This technique, known as MitraClip, fixes malfunctioning mitral valves without the need for open-heart surgery, significantly reducing recovery time. The program aims to lead in minimally invasive cardiac surgery and enhance patient care in Alberta, performing up to 30 procedures over the next two years.
