UK benefit cap stays frozen until 2026, despite rising costs and benefit increases.

The UK Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) announced that the benefit cap, limiting total benefits an individual can receive, will remain frozen until 2026, despite increases in some benefits. The cap for couples or single claimants with children in Greater London is £25,323, and £16,967 for single adults without children. For the rest of Great Britain, the cap is £22,020 for couples or claimants with children and £14,753 for single adults without children. Additionally, Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates will remain at current levels from April 2025, potentially impacting households renting from private landlords due to rising rents and a shortage of social housing.
