Turkey cuts F-16 deal with US, plans domestic modernization and reentry into F-35 program.

Turkey has reduced its $23 billion deal with the US for F-16 fighter jets by canceling the purchase of 79 modernization kits for its existing fleet. The country plans to modernize these jets domestically. Turkey still intends to buy 40 new F-16 jets for about $7 billion. Additionally, Turkey aims to rejoin the F-35 fighter jet program and purchase 40 F-35 jets, after being expelled for buying Russian missiles.
