The Associated Press revealed that a Pentagon-funded study by the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) on military extremism used outdated data, leading to misleading conclusions. The IDA report, based on old arrest figures, undercounted military and veteran involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection, downplaying the issue of extremism. Despite newer data showing faster radicalization among service members and veterans, the IDA report did not utilize this information, leading to inaccuracies.
