Pope Francis has asked the Vatican to study making "spiritual abuse" a new crime within the Catholic Church to address cases where priests misuse alleged mystical experiences to harm followers. The Vatican’s doctrinal office will form a working group to analyze the possibility and present proposals. This follows cases, including accusations against Rev. Marko Rupnik, who was expelled from the Jesuit order and accused by about 25 individuals of various abuse.
