Windsor, Canada, will replace the Charles Brooks Memorial Peace Fountain for $10.5 million after its removal in 2023 due to deterioration. The new fountain, set for installation by 2027, will feature LED lighting and variable-speed pumps and will be stored on land during winter. The original fountain, installed in 1978, honored Charles Brooks, a local labor leader. The city is also considering ways to repurpose the old fountain and make September 21 an annual peace day.
