Dr. Michael Mosley and the NHS recommend that most people in the UK take vitamin D supplements, especially from October to March, when sunlight is weaker. People with darker skin may need year-round supplements. Vitamin D is vital for regulating calcium and phosphate levels. Dr. Mosley also suggests that vegans and those over 50 take B12 supplements and that older women ensure sufficient calcium intake to prevent osteoporosis.
