Quebec's Alimentation Couche-Tard sees 13.5% drop in Q2 earnings amid lower fuel margins and soft demand.

Alimentation Couche-Tard, a Quebec-based convenience store chain, reported a 13.5% drop in second-quarter earnings to $708.8 million, from $819.2 million last year. Despite this, total revenues increased by 6% to $17.4 billion. Earnings per diluted share fell from 85 cents to 75 cents. The decline was due to lower fuel gross margins in the U.S., softer consumer demand, and other factors. CEO Alex Miller remains optimistic about the company's long-term growth.
