Mount Fuji climbers face higher fees as Japan's Yamanashi Prefecture hikes costs, with Shizuoka set to follow.
The Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan plans to increase Mount Fuji's entry fee for climbers from 2,000 yen to between 3,000 and 5,000 yen, consolidating it with a voluntary conservation fee of 1,000 yen. The proposed change aims to simplify the payment system and enhance funding for the mountain's conservation. Shizuoka Prefecture is also considering a similar mandatory entry fee starting next summer.
