Man pleads guilty to threatening synagogues and Israeli Consulate in Boston, faces up to 20 years in prison.
John Reardon, a 59-year-old man from Massachusetts, has pleaded guilty to threatening to bomb synagogues and kill Jewish individuals. Reardon left threatening voicemails at two synagogues and made 98 harassing calls to the Israeli Consulate in Boston. His actions are seen as part of a rise in antisemitism in the U.S. following the Israel-Hamas conflict. Reardon faces up to 20 years in prison but prosecutors recommend a sentence of up to 2.5 years, with sentencing set for August 14.
