Killer whale Keto, who attacked his trainer in 2009, died at age 29, prompting reflection on orca management.

Keto, a killer whale who fatally attacked his trainer at Tenerife's Loro Parque in 2009, has died at age 29. Originally from SeaWorld Orlando, Keto had been at Loro Parque since 2006. His death follows a necropsy by 21 veterinarians, with the cause still undisclosed. Keto's attack on trainer Alexis Martínez, and a similar incident at SeaWorld, led to changes in orca management and breeding programs. Loro Parque now focuses on rescue operations and opposes commercial whaling and ocean pollution.
