Former Bank of China chairman sentenced to death for bribery, illegal loans; reprieve possible.

Former Bank of China chairman Liu Liange was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for bribery and illegal loan issuance. He took bribes totaling over 121 million yuan and approved illegal loans causing losses of over 190 million yuan. The reprieve means his death sentence will be suspended if he behaves well for two years, after which it could be commuted to life imprisonment.
