Fall time change linked to 25% rise in evening car accidents, 78% jump in pedestrian crashes in Quebec.

Data from Quebec's auto insurance board shows that road accidents, especially those involving pedestrians, spike after the fall time change. Between 2019 and 2023, injury-causing accidents between 5 and 8 p.m. increased by 25%, with pedestrian accidents rising by 78%. In contrast, the spring time change led to a 24% decrease in crashes. Quebec is considering eliminating the twice-yearly clock adjustments.
