President Biden's nominee, Adeel Manji, who would have been the first Muslim federal appeals court judge, was not confirmed due to opposition over his affiliations with controversial groups. Three other radical judicial nominees were also abandoned in a deal with Senate Republicans to confirm 12 lower court judges. The deal comes amid efforts to confirm judges before the end of the current administration, though a bill to increase federal judgeships faces delays in the House.
