Western Australia's regulator sues Santos over a 2022 oil spill linked to dolphin deaths.

Western Australia's safety regulator has taken legal action against Santos, an oil and gas company, over a 2022 spill of 25,000 liters of condensate near Varanus Island. The spill is linked to the deaths of at least three dolphins and occurred due to improper operation of Santos' licensed pipeline, according to the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. The first hearing is scheduled for January 6, 2025.
