Caribbean scientists transformed invasive sargassum seaweed into a biofuel, creating the world's first vehicle powered by this new energy source. The fuel, made from seaweed, rum distillery wastewater, and sheep dung, can convert any car with a $2,500, four-hour installation. The University of the West Indies team plans to expand this initiative to combat the seaweed problem and explore further innovations.
