Scientists confirm "Bio-Duck" sound in Antarctic waters comes from Antarctic minke whales.

Scientists have discovered that the mysterious "Bio-Duck" sound, recorded in Antarctic waters since the 1960s and later in Australia, is likely made by Antarctic minke whales. The duck-like quacks appear to be a form of communication, with whales taking turns to vocalize. Though linked to minke whales in 2014, similar sounds in other regions raise questions about other possible sources. The purpose of these calls remains unknown.
