A man accused of choking his partner twice, including at a campsite, was denied bail due to risks.

A 35-year-old man accused of choking his partner unconscious at a Lake Burrumbeet campsite was denied bail on Monday in Ballarat Magistrates' Court. The court heard he had also allegedly strangled her three months prior. The man, who lives with his partner, said he wanted treatment for substance abuse but was deemed too risky to release. He is due back in court on December 9. Separately, a 26-year-old man accused of kidnapping and assaulting a woman in Camperdown was also denied bail due to flight risks; he had previously fled police in Tasmania.
